Badminton champs receive prizes
-Kumar challenges Ramdhani to stimulate interest in B/ce

The respective winners in this year’s National Sports Commission Mashramani Badminton Competition received their prizes on Friday from Director of Sport Neil Kumar at a presentation ceremony in the Queen’s College Auditorium.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kumar opened by congratulating Organiser and National Coach Gokarn Ramdhani for a well run tournament, adding that he has been doing a fine job in helping to re-invigorate interest in the sport.
The Director told the students that a vigorous effort is being made by the Commission in collaboration with the Ministry of Education to resuscitate sports in schools.
He spoke of the recently organised match between Queen’s College and Berbice High School which was played after a prolonged absence.
“I recently presented Berbice High School with a quantity of nets and shuttles to activate the sport at the school and therefore would like to challenge Mr. Ramdhani to go to the region and assist in stimulating interest in the sport,” Kumar said.
He promised to sponsor a tournament for schools.
