The Mothers’ Union in the Providence of the West Indies is currently hosting its six-day Triennial Council Meeting in Guyana.
The forum, which is being chaired by Leila Austin, Provincial President, is being hosted under the theme, ‘Cost of Relationships.’
Twenty-two delegates including Diocesan Presidents, from Trinidad, Barbados, St Vincent, Antigua, Jamaica and Guyana are attending.
Also attending are the Worldwide President of the Mothers’ Union from the United Kingdom, Rosemary Kempsell and Provincial President of the U.S.A, Phyllis Gomes.
During the meeting, which will conclude on Monday, issues such as the Provincial President’s Report, the launching of the Mothers’ Union Provincial Disaster Fund, which will be used to assist territories in the Caribbean that experience Natural Disasters, will be discussed.
The Provincial Mothers’ Union has done extensive work throughout the Caribbean in encouraging and supporting stable family life, addressing all forms of violence against women and children and building relationships and networking with other organisations.
The Province of the West Indies has a Mothers’ Union membership of over 10,000 members.
The ongoing meeting is being hosted at Zoom Inn Hotel, Croal Street.
