Much to the happiness of commuters and drivers on the West Coast of Demerara, restoration works have begun on the roadways.
According to the workmen who were repairing the road in Uitvlugt, the restoration of the roads is part of an ongoing campaign to repair the roads. They said that the repair works, having started in Uitvlugt, would continue on to Parika.
Yesterday was the first day of the repair work, and it was noted that the repairs would continue over the next few days.
While many commuters have expressed their happiness that the roads on the West Coast of Demerara are finally being repaired, they have noted that too much time has passed since repair works have been done to the road. According to some commuters, many sections of the roadway have sunken, creating ‘waves’ in the road that make driving extremely difficult.
