Telecommunications giant Digicel recently announced that prepaid BlackBerry service is now available in Guyana. The prepaid service is affordable, easy to use, and is available for any BlackBerry smart-phone powered by a Digicel SIM card.
Customers can subscribe to a daily, weekly or monthly plan, and there is no activation fee attached to this service. As an introductory offer, customers with a BlackBerry smart-phone powered by a Digicel SIM Card can try the service free until January 28 of this year.
After the initial introductory period, customers can choose from three (3) basic plans: $250 daily, $1500 weekly, or $5000 monthly, and get their entire Web interface services available to them ‘in the palms of their hands.’
According to Donovan White, Digicel Guyana Head of Marketing, Digicel is committed to giving its customers the best of this technology.
He noted that this particular service is very easy to use, and provides access on the go for those customers who don’t want the hassle of a contract or a bill at the end of the month.
All that is required is for the customer to top up their account for the service to continue.
White noted that business clients have long enjoyed the benefits of Digicel’s exclusive BlackBerry service in Guyana, but with this new service, a wider range of its customer base who desire the service can now enjoy the BlackBerry experience, which brings with it Web browsing, sending and receiving of emails, instant messaging, and Facebook to their fingertips.
To activate the service, customers are required to dial *136# and press “send” from their Blackberry smart phones.
White indicated that Digicel is never satisfied with just making a service available, and from today will launch a promotion to give away one (1) Blackberry smart phone every day for five (5) days.
To qualify, every time a customer tops up with $300 or more, from Jan 19 – 23, that customer will receive an automatic entry into a daily draw for the winner.
White said that this promotion comes as part of Digicel’s promise to always deliver better service and better value to its supporters.
