I am happy to see that The Rt Rev George is still strong and will be leaving his office still full of energy and happy as usual. This report limited as it is did not treat the important and meaningful role Bishop George played in the restoration of democracy in Guyana.
It was at a Guyana Council of Churches meeting under the leadership of The Bishop, as he is normally referred to, that the GCC set out to help the poor and suffering by embarking on a three prong approach. A decision was made to set up a committee to import tools and seeds to help framers to up their production, This was to involved Hafeez Rahman, Peter Kempadoo and others.
The second prong was to import weathen flour and other basic staples to help the needy who were suffering from the PNC draconian economic policies. Revs Dale Bisnauth, Oswald Best and Cary Fraser the then Project Manager of the Caribbean Conference of Churches were leaders in this process.
The third prong was bringing the political parties together to identify areas of commonality in order to move the country forward. All the political parties were invited including the PNC who never participated, but all other parties participated. Included also was Fr. Malcolm Rodrigues representing the Roman Catholic Bishop and myself representing The Bishop. It is this committee that give birth to the PCD.
Prior to the 1992 election Cheddie Jagan considered offering The Bishop the position at the head of the PPP ticket.
There is much more that can be written from those of us who were eye withness to his ministry.

Firstly, let me salute KN for recognising humbe & distinguished sons & daughters of Guyana some of whose services to humanity often goes unrecognised. Keep up the good work. To you Rt. Reverent/Bishop Randolph George you can be assured that you have left footprints in the sands of time & a legacy that's priceless. I wish you God's continuous blessings & though you hsve attsined that ripe age of 84, God still have greater works in his vineyard for you to complete. I know you'll be strengthened & hence may you enjoy a blissful retirement, & may God strengthen your wife Shiela to continue being your strong pillar to support you as always. God bless.

The Rt. Rev. Bishop Randolph Oswald George, is a huge credit to religion, and a most outstanding Son of Guyana, with the support of his wife Sheila, and son Christopher.

I have fond memories of working with the Rt. Rev. Bishop in the 70's, and remember his calmness and clear communications, coupled with simplicity.

Bishop reminds me, of my 2 mentors, Chief Justice Sir Donald Jackson and Lord Mayor & Speaker of Parliament Rahman Bacchus Gajraj, outstanding Sons of Guyana.

We wish, Our Bishop, a long and productive life, in the service of humanity.

KN, I am delighted to see, this recognition.

KN, do make this, a regular feature for both, living and dead outstanding Guyanese.
