The annual Balram Shane 50-over cricket match between rivals Albion Community Centre and Port Mourant will be played today at the Port Mourant ground beginning at 9:30am.
This is the ninth year that the game is being played. Port Mourant are the defending champions. Over the time the competition has been played, Albion have won the trophy five times, while Port Mourant have won it twice, with a game being abandon.
The winners will collect the Balram Shane trophy, cash and other incentives. Additional incentives will go to the runner-up, man-of-the-match, best batsman and bowler. Proceeds from the gate along with donations and gifts collected by the sponsor will be divided equally and distributed among the two teams.
Four other clubs; No. 67, Kennard Memorial, No.19 and No.1 cricket clubs will also benefit from the proceeds of the game. Each side have been allotted a quantity of tickets, the returns of which they will keep.
Albion will include West Indies player Narsingh Deonarine, Davendra Bishoo, Veerasammy Permaul, Imran Khan, Jonathan Foo, Doodnauth Lallbeharry, Shastri Persaud, Rajendra Lachigadoo and Orvin Mangru.
While Port Mourant is expected to choose from Mahendra Nagamootoo, Hoomchand Pooran, Rajiv Ivan, Roopnarine Ramgobin, Shameer Khan, Yougendra Harrinarine and Moshin Perkhan.
