A teen from West Ruimveldt was yesterday released on bail by Magistrate Priya Beharry on a charge of simple larceny.
On August 9 last, at Campbellville, the teen allegedly stole $45,000 from Stacy Chin. It is also alleged that, on August 11, he stole $41,000 from the same individual. He had earlier stolen a further $13,000 from Chin. To all the charges the accused pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor Denise Griffith told the court that Chin had employed the accused as a porter. The woman added that on all three occasion the accused went into the cash register when she was not present and removed the cash.
Bail was granted to the accused to the tune of $75,000, and the accused will make his next court appearance on August 24. Another teen was also released on bail on a charge of unlawful wounding. The 16-year-old is accused of unlawfully wounding Devon Baptiste on August 13.
To the charge the lad pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor told the court that on the day in question the accused was in the company of some friends when he became embroiled in an argument with Baptiste. The teen allegedly drew a knife and stabbed Baptiste.
He is out on $25,000 and will make his next court appearance on September 24.
