Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar (RHTWSB) and Albion battled to an exciting tie when they clashed at the Area ‘H’ Ground in a specially arranged match on Wednesday to raise funds for the Changing Your Life Ministries Church of Williamsburg.
Batting first after losing the toss, Albion paced their way to 132-7 in their allotted overs. National under-19 player Jonathan Foo top scored with a classy 40 which included 3 massive sixes and 2 fours, national leg spinner Davendra Bishoo supported with 36.
R. Lachigadoo chipped in with 20 while West Indies player Narsingh Deonarine was run out for 10.
Bowling for RHTWSB, Eon Hooper and Ravi Narine took 2 wickets for 10 and 16 runs respectively.
The home team in response lost skipper Renwick Batson, bowled by off-spinner Lachigadoo for 4 with the score on 8 in the first over.
Former national player Andre Percival joined forces with Senior Berbice wicketkeeper Delbert Hicks to put on 110 for the 2nd wicket in 17.4 overs.
The veteran Percival rolled back the years with a brilliant 65 off 72 balls, smashing 9 fours and 2 sixes before he was bowled by Davendra Bishoo with the score at 118.
Needing to score 13 to win off the last over, Hicks and former Guyana U-19 Khemraj Mahadeo managed just 12 as they ended on 132-2 the same score as Albion.
Hicks, was undefeated on 52. Lachigadoo and Bishoo took a wicket each for Albion.
At the presentation ceremony Pastor Kelvin Pereira thanked both teams for their support of the Church’s project and for providing fans with a high level of cricket.
