Banks DIH Ltd. in its continuing effort to promote horseracing in Berbice has provided sponsorship to the Norman Singh Memorial Turf Club’s One-day horserace meeting on Sunday July 20 at the Race Course at Number 6 Village, West Coast Berbice.
Eight races are carded on the programme including the feature event the Banks Beer Race over six furlongs for “C” Class and Lower horses. There will also be races for Three-year-old and Two-year-old horses.
Organising Secretary of the Club Compton Sancho disclosed that over $2.6 million in cash prizes and trophies will be at stake. According to Sancho some of the top horses and jockeys in the country will be vying for honours.
Among the horses already registered are – Great Memories, Fresh Prospect, Fire Power, Little Pannie, Forest Ranger, Miss Republic, The Gap, Getting Something, Laura Lee-in-Flight, Pinch the Cash and Jumbo Boy.
Banks DIH Special Events Manager Mortimer Stewart presented the winner’s trophy to Sancho and pledged his company’s commitment to assist in the development of horseracing in Berbice.
Sancho thanked the local Beverage giants for a being part of the Race programme.
