Hand-In-Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Companies renewed its sponsorship of the Demerara Cricket Board’s (DCB) Second Division 50 overs Competition after Fire Manager /Director Howard Cox presented a cheque worth $791,600 to Marketing Manager of the Board Ravindra Prashad yesterday in the Company’s Boardroom.
Cox speaking at the occasion said that the Company has increased the size of the sponsorship and this was evidence of the seriousness in which they treat the development of cricket.
He further assured that they will continue to support the competition.
President of the DCB Bissoondial Singh in his response thanked the Company for their continued support towards the competition which he stated started years ago, adding that it is indeed a testimony to their commitment to the development of the game.
“We will ensure that they receive maximum mileage for their money.”
He added that even though the Board is a relatively new one, they are very a very enthusiastic bunch and was prepared to work hard to guarantee that the tournament is run smoothly and meet the approval of the sponsors.
Last year ninety-two teams participated in the competition with Enterprise Busta Club emerging as the winners after defeating Malteenoes Sports Club in the final.
It is envisaged that nearly 100 teams will enter this year’s tournament which will commence as soon as the rainy season eases.
