Guyana’s third Regional Championship was again under the leadership of Timur Mohamed 1976, but on this occasion Andrew Lyght 104 and Sen Gopaul’s match haul of 12 wickets combined to destroy Jamaica at Sabina’s Park in the Benson and Hedges final.
Berbician Latchman Bhansingh wore the captaincy armband when Guyana hosted and celebrated it’s fourth championship, August of 1985.
Carl Hooper dominated that tournament with bat and ball scoring 404 runs and capturing 33 wickets.
Guyana captured championship five, six and seven under the captaincy of Port Mourant’s Andre Percival; 1992 (Guyana), 1993 (St. Kitts) and 1994 (Barbados) making Percival the only under-19 captain to win three (3) consecutive titles.
The eight championship was under another Port Mourant player Mahendra Nagamootoo 1995 (Grenada).
Please note Nagamootoo was not originally selected as captain, he replaced the injured Nicholas DeGroot who broke his right thumb against the Leeward Island in the opening match of the 1995 tournament.
